There are two ways to manage your content in Joomla!:

  • loggin in on the home page of the website (the front-ent);
  • logging in on the so called back-end, by going to the homepage of the website and then adding /administrator in the address bar at the top of your browser.

The first option is for basic management, like changing the content of an existing article.

The second option provides more options, like creating articles, menu-items, etcetera.

Here you will find online video instructions on how to use Joomla!, the content management system for this website...

It is very important to keep your Sieter website content management system (Joomla!) up-to-date with the latest version (as you should do with your Windows computer (or Apple these days)).

As with every webbased system it is essential to install new versions when they come available. If you do not do so, your site may be hacked. This is not unlikely since Joomla! is a very popular system worldwide and therefore it is attractive for hackers to try this (they do this mostly fully automated by the way).

You should find a local Joomla!-specialist and ask them to do this for you because it involves a little more than pushing a few buttons. Every now and then a new version becomes available, usually it fixes a few security leaks.

Some tips and tricks:

  • Moving content from your old website to the new one can be an exhaustive job and if you care for quality and accessibility (also for search engines) you will have to clean the html code. Also you will have to think about how to organize the content and how to use this system (Joomla!) for this.
  • Login with user details provided in e-mail, click on the pencil button and feel free to play around and change the content. You should have access to this website from all locations, be it at home, an internet cafe, or elsewhere (unless Firewalls etc prevent you from doing this).
